A Trip to Bromo

On 2nd November 2012, i got a chance to visit Malang, this is my first trip to Malang. Considering this is a rare chance for me to visit Malang, i arrange a trip to Bromo, once i told harvien i want to visit Bromo (harvien must attend a meeting in Bali, while we supposed to have a vacation in Malang), all of his colleague wants to join me too, thinking that a tour to Bromo cost cheaper if we go together so its a good thing right (NOT!).

After i called 4 tour that’s going to take us, i got the cheapest price after a hot bargain. i got Rp 205.000,00 perperson (11 person) from Malang to Bromo. But when we arrive in Malang, there’s 2 more harvien’s colleague wants to join, instead the more the cheaper, 13 person cost additional jeep rent. So instead 2 jeep, we have to rent 3 jeep. The cost now increase to Rp 225.000,00. Cut the story short, i took the tour because it still offer the lowest price.

We picked up at 12 pm with a 13 seater elf, from our guest house aand since it’s a big group ofcourse there’s a delayed until 1.20 pm (overslept here, makeup there..which irritates me), and there we go, off to Bromo!

Arrived in Bromo at 3.00 pm, we have to change vehicle to hardtop jeep. Still very sleepy we slept in the jeep not to forget to take a pee, since our tour guide mention that’s no toilet in Bromo (actually there is, but you have to pay Rp 5.000,00 for a kampong toilet).

At 4.00 pm we arrived at Bromo, it’s so dark we can’t see nothing, we have to climb a hill to see sunrise, we can use a horse or climb by ourself. since our tour guide said it will be a short climb, i choose option no 2. The climb itself it tiring, full of dust (from the horse step) and makes me hard to breath. fortunately, i already bring a mask, and thick jacket since it’s very cold up there.

After the sun rise, we go down the hill and take a jeep tour to bromo crater, but first our guide offer to visit savannah and dessert (where many movies take set there). Note : there’s additional cost one jeep must pay Rp 150.000,00 (divide into 4 passenger, we have to add around Rp 37.500,00. Worth to visit tough, amazing to see a savannah full of green and dessert where only sand side by side.

 

After those magnificent view, our hike hadn’t finish yet, we ought to visit Bromo crater, and because I’m already very tired I decide to ride a horse (additional charge Rp 100.000,00), then take 250 steps up to see the crater.

Going up is not easy, but when I thought going down would be easier, boy I was wrong. Because sands in the stairs makes us have to be very careful taking those steps down.

What an experience! But I have really fun, and I cant stop saying “Subhanallah, how beautiful Your creation are”.
